Robert Drysdale’s UFC debut is on hold.
The famed jiu-jitsu competitor, who has won all of his MMA fights via submission, was scheduled to compete against Ednaldo Oliveira at UFC 163 on Aug. 3 in Rio de Janeiro.
But the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Tuesday that Drysdale, who lives in Vegas, will have to pull out of the light heavyweight bout due to a staph infection.
Drysdale was a gold medalist at the 2005 World Jiu-Jitsu Championships and at the 2007 ADCC championships. He made his MMA debut in 2010 and his won all six bouts via first-round tapout.
No word yet on a replacement to face the Oliveira, who lost to Gabriel Gonzaga in his company debut at UFC 142.
