Middleweights Derek Brunson and Antonio Braga Neto will look to build on successful UFC debuts when they square off at UFC Fight for the Troops 3 on November 6, 2013 in Fort Campbell, KY.
UFC officials announced the bout on Monday.
A former Strikeforce fighter, Brunson (10-2) was welcomed into the UFC fold in late-2012 as a last second replacement for Karlos Vemola against Chris Leben. The decorated NCAA Division II wrestler dropped consecutive contests against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Kendall Grove prior to his Octagon debut, nonetheless he bounced back to outpoint Leben in a bout that was heavily-panned by UFC President Dana White.
Brunson has since been scheduled to fight Ronny Markes and Yoel Romero, however both match-ups ultimately fell apart due to injury.
Neto (9-1, 1 NC), meanwhile, hopes to extend his current four-fight hot streak, a run that stretches back to mid-2010 and features a quartet of submission finishes. A BJJ gold medalist in both the Mudials and Pan Ams, Neto needed less than two minutes to submit Anthony Smith via kneebar in his UFC debut.
