Good interview with Chuck Liddell over at MMA Junkie regarding his four-fight don’t-call-it-a-comeback plan.
Liddell, who is a TUF 11 coach opposite Tito Ortiz (who, of course, is his next Octagon opponent), is ready to prove doubters that he’s still got it.
And the biggest doubter of them all? Dana White.
Says Liddell:
“I don’t think I have anything to prove, but I would like to prove [White] wrong…I’m not too old. I can still fight.
It is what it is. I’ll keep arguing, and [White] will keep arguing with me. It doesn’t matter. I’ve just got to show him I can perform. If I perform, he’ll keep letting me fight.”
Don’t get us wrong, we get the urge to keep doing something that you love and you’re great out even though it’s time to walk away and get on with the next chapter of your life. It’s why we’re not allowed within 100 yards of any high school. Just for Chuck’s sake, we don’t want to see him walking around like Muhammad Ali in 10 years.
One thing we do agree with Chuck on is this: if he is going to make a comeback, Tito Ortiz is probably the right guy to start with (see above video).
