The UFC’s No. 1-ranked light heavyweight, Alexander Gustafsson, answered a variety of questions Tuesday afternoon during a reddit AMA (ask me anything).
These popular events are hosted on reddit.com, and they provide the website’s massive user base the opportunity to ask celebrities and notable personalities anything they wish for a designated period of time.
During Gustafsson‘s time throughout the AMA, he talked UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, rising 205-pound contender Daniel Cormier and an assortment of other hot-button topics and issues.
Here are some highlights from the event:
Question: How much water weight do you cut before a fight? How much do you weigh when you step into the cage on fight night?
Gustafsson‘s Response: About 30 pounds and I weigh around 217-220 when I fight
Question: What rules if any would you change in MMA? Soccer kicks, downward elbows, faster stand-ups? Also who is your favourite European fighter ever?
Gustafsson: I’m happy with the rules, we [don’t] have to change anything. My favourite fighter is Fedor!
Question: Who do you think would have given you the best fight in their prime. Tito Ortiz Chuck Liddell Rampage Shogun or Ricardo Arona
Gustafsson: Shogun
Question: Thanks for the AMA! How often do you get recognized out in public? Any amusing stories like that you can share?
Gustafsson: It happens [a lot] nowadays. Everywhere. It doesn’t matter where I am.
As expected, Gustafsson thinks he beat Jon Jones at UFC 165, but it also appears that he’s looking forward to his next shot at the light heavyweight champion, where he can definitively prove he is the superior fighter.
While Gustafsson seems to have taken his controversial loss to Jones well, he sounded off on the champ’s questionable use of eye pokes inside the cage, saying that the technique is “something he [Jones] needs to stop doing.”
“The Mauler” also sees a fight with Daniel Cormier in his future. Cormier, who just defeated Dan Henderson at UFC 173, appears to be next in line for a title fight after Jones and Gustafsson settle their score later this year.
In addition, Gustafsson was asked about how he would fare in a fight with UFC legend and former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. The Swede did not sound confident in his chances.
Question: You think you could take GSP?
Gustafsson: No.

Fair warning, once you get sucked into reddit, you may not come back. At the very least, you won’t come back the same as you entered.
Good luck, and enjoy the AMA.
