Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir was disappointed with his performance against opponent Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovi? in Saturday nights UFC 119 main event.
At the post fight press conference Mir noted “that a s**** win is better than a s**** loss.”
“No disrespect, it was a pretty s**** performance as far as I wanted to push the pace more. I have to be honest, while he’s swinging punches at you, it’s not as easy. He caught my attention pretty early with his velocity of how hard he was throwing his left hook. That style he never really used before, also the way he exited to the left kind of threw me. As far as striking aspect of it I could have gotten more busy. I got really frustrated because with pushing him against the cage, I drilled so much but I made mistakes that I wasn’t making like lifting my arm up and exposing my ribcage. I think I had too much time to think and I had to clear my mind. But then again, without a single takedown, I was able to stand up with Mirko for two and a half rounds and win by KO.”
Mir used a right knee in the third round to knock Cro Cop out at 4:02 to win his 14th professional win and his 12th in the UFC.
