There are always more stories waiting to be told from the road.

That’s the beautiful part about that twisting, winding, curving thing; there is always something to be found when one has the courage to set about looking. Personally, I jumped out onto the frozen trail in early January, when Mother Nature chose to wreak havoc on the Midwest in the form of record snowfall and subzero temperatures. Yet, I’ve always been the stubborn type, and when my mind gets set on something it’s going to take more than a winter vortex to keep me from accomplishing my goals.

Those who have followed along during the initial two installments of this project know the madness myself and the brave crew of the aptly named “Altima Fighter” have been through thus far in 2014. Anyone who may be stumbling upon this crazy project for the first time (Welcome!) just click on road trip project here to catch up on our journey.

While I took a few months to recover from the 9,000 miles I’ve logged on my travels westward, it is time to get the show back on the road. This time I’ll be chasing horizons on the eastern skyline and spending time with a collection of MMA‘s finest along the way. Just as you—the faithful reader—have experienced throughout this road-trip project, the third run will feature in-depth interviews with fighters from every end of the professional spectrum and provide a look at their personal lives not often seen in the day-to-day media grind.

The goal is to give you something different, and that idea is the fuel that pushes this quest onward.

B/R MMA has become a one-stop shop for all things mixed martial arts and one of the premier sites in the sport for news, interviews and analysis. That coverage is going to continue and will only get better, but it’s also nice to throw a little something different into the mix.

As I’ve emphasized to begin every blog on this trip….this voyage is for you, dear reader. Much like myself, you are passionate about this sport and I want to show you what I see. I want to show you what things look like when the TV cameras stop and the microphone gets taken out of their faces. I want to show you how this sport looks through my eyes.

Therefore, I set about on this coast-to-coast trip in 2014, and it’s been an amazing experience so far. With what I have lined up for this run, the next seven days just may take the proverbial cake, but the bar has been set mighty high from the fighters we’ve spent time with out west. That said, the roster of fighters on deck for this installment have made a habit out of doing the unthinkable, and I believe they are going to provide some memorable clips on this adventure.

Also, we like to make this trip as interactive as possible, so please follow along on Twitter (@BR_MMA and @DuaneFinleyMMA) and keep an eye on this blog as it will be updated repeatedly throughout the day.

Take this journey with me once again, my friends. And let’s see what we can get into.
