Ronda Rousey has reached another personal milestone.
Lifestyle brand Buffalo David Bitton announced on Thursday that the UFC women’s bantamweight champion is the new (and only) female face of Buffalo Pro, which is specifically geared towards the brand’s sports-minded consumer. This marks the first fashion campaign for the 27-year-old Rousey, who is also set to star in Hollywood blockbusters “Fast & Furious 7” and “Entourage” in 2015.
“It’s such an amazing opportunity to be able to represent Buffalo Pro,” Rousey stated in a press release. “Not only am I the first female they’ve ever had representing the campaign, but it’s the first time any MMA fighter has done any type of fashion thing at all. I feel really honored to be taking the first steps into this industry. I never had the confidence when I was younger to dress well, and avoided any type of fashion and femininity, and I’m enjoying the chance to embrace it at this point in my life.”
Rousey’s Buffalo Pro holiday campaign follows similar ones centered around NBA stars Kevin Love and Chandler Parsons, as well as New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker.
The multi-media marketing campaign, which was first reported by Women’s Wear Daily, will appear across print, digital and social media platforms. The Canadian-based Buffalo David Bitton can be found in more than 3,000 department and specialty stores in over 18 different countries.
“Whenever I get a fight, I obsess over it because I feel like everything I’ve worked for my entire life really weighs on it,” Rousey said. “I wouldn’t be representing Buffalo Pro if I didn’t win these fights. I feel like every single time that I get out there all of those things that I’ve earned along the way are on the line, and so I’m not just fighting to protect my title or a belt — that’s just a piece of metal — I’m fighting to really legitimize every single bit of work that I’ve done all the way up to this point, and any loss along that way it will all be wasted in my eyes.”
As far has her fighting career is concerned, the 10-0 Rousey is set to to face Cat Zingano on Feb. 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
