Recently former welterweight fighter Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis (17-7) stated he would drop to 155 pounds for his next fight. Jeremy Stephens (18-6) was quick to throw his name out to be the first fighter to welcome Davis to the lightweight division.
I see Marcus Davis is droppn to 155. PLEASE give me that fight! No disrespect, but I don’t think Marcus will RUN like my last opponent.
Now, according to MMAjunkie.com, Stephens will get his chance when both fighters meet on New Years day on the UFC 125 card in Las Vegas.
Stephens lost a split decision to Melvin Guillard in September at UFC 119, in a fight that was highly touted as the “Fight of the Night” bout but was anything but for many fans. The loss for “Lil Heathen” ended a two fight win streak that saw him win a split decision over Sam Stout and a TKO win over Justin Buchholz at UFN 19. Both wins earned him bonuses with “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout of the Night” awards.
Davis also suffered a defeat in his last fight after getting choked unconscious by Nate Diaz at UFC 118, a fight that won both men the “Fight of the Night” award. Previous to that he stopped Jonathan Goulet via TKO at UFC 113. His record over the past four is just 1-3. “The Irish Hand Grenade” has won a total of five “Fight Night” honors with the UFC.
UFC 125: Resolution takes place on Jan. 1st from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
