Jon Jones Training Sober For First Time Ahead Of Daniel Cormier Fight

Jon Jones (21-1) is making his anticipated return at UFC 197 against current Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier (17-1). Jones has not fought since UFC 182 against Cormier in which he won by unanimous decision. The New York native faced legal troubles last April for a hit-and-run incident.

He has since taken the necessary steps to get his life back on track. Jones was present last Friday for the UFC Unstoppable press conference. Dana White said on Tuesday to ESPN Radio that Jones is 100% sober for the first time in his career going into a training camp.

“If you listen to the banter back and forth between them (Jones and Cormier), obviously Cormier is saying what a bad guy he is. (Jones saying) Hey listen man let me tell you this, this is the first I have ever been sober for a fight camp”, White said. “For the whole time he’s been fighting he’s never been sober.”

Jones has also been focusing on heavy weightlifting to get in peek shape for his rematch against Cormier. Despite not holding a belt currently, “Bones” is ranked as the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, according to the UFC Rankings.
