“I am pushing as hard as I can for this title shot. Recently we beat the No. 3 guy in the world, then we beat the No. 1 guy in the world in Boston in Anthony Pettis. Now we’re going for the champ. Hopefully by UFC 200 it all lines up, the champ agrees, and we’re able to get a title shot. [A Diaz fight] is a good idea too, if Dos Anjos doesn’t give me a shot at the world title, then the Diaz fight would be something I’d be willing to entertain.”
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight No. 1 contender, Eddie Alvarez, told Fight Hype he’s expecting to face reigning 155-pound kingpin Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 200, assuming the Brazilian is all patched up and ready to go after his recent injury setback. Unless, of course, the promotion decides to instead grant the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson — who collide at UFC on FOX 19 — the next crack at the lightweight crown. If so, the former Bellator MMA champ is willing to throw down with Nate Diaz, assuming the price is right.
