An anonymous source says Floyd Mayweather Jr. scored the recently concluded rubber match between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley a draw.
On Saturday night, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao ended his two-decade boxing career on a high note through a unanimous decision victory over Timothy Bradley.
Scoring two official knockdowns during the fight, “Pacman” was handed a unanimous decision verdict, with all three judges giving him a 116-110 tally. But apparently, not everyone agrees to the judges’ verdict, and one of them being Floyd Mayweather Jr.
In a report by ESPN, an anonymous source close to Mayweather says the retired undefeated boxer had actually scored the said about a draw:
“And according to a person privy to the conversation, Mayweather told Bradley he thought the fight was much closer than the official scorecards — all three judges had Pacquiao winning 116-110. In fact, Mayweather told Bradley his own scorecard had the fight a draw.
“Go home and watch the replay with the sound off,” Mayweather is said to have told Bradley, indicating he believed the raucously pro-Pacquiao crowd had influenced the judges.”
In another interview with Fight Hype, Mayweather did not specify how he scored the contest, but did say that the fight was “a lot closer than the judges had it.”
“Honestly, I thought the fight was a lot closer than they had it,” Mayweather said. “But, you know, in boxing, you win some, you lose some.”
