Dan Henderson shook up the MMA community when the UFC legend took out No. 14-ranked (WW) Hector Lombard, in their middleweight clash Saturday night at UFC 196, with some vicious elbows to the Cuban’s face.
This was Lombard’s welterweight debut following a third round thrashing at the hands of Neil Magny back in March at UFC Fight Night 85. Lombard was returning from a year-long suspension after testing positive for an illegal substance following his win over Josh Burkman in 2015, which resulted in his unanimous decision win being turned into a no-contest.
Henderson has now won two of his last four bouts via KO, with his most recent Octagon appearance resulting in an upsetting KO loss to No. 3-ranked Vitor Belfort back in November at UFC Fight Night 77. ‘Hendo’s’ last Octagon victory came in June of 2015 against Tim Boetsch, with Henderson knocking out Boetsch twenty-eight seconds into the first round.
Following his win over Lombard, Henderson admitted that he is contemplating retirement, however, he won’t make any decisions just yet off of emotion.
