Two former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight titleholders — both on a quest to stay relevant among the next generation of mixed martial arts (MMA) stars — will collide in the UFC Fight Pass main event during the promotion’s upcoming trip to Hamburg, Germany, on Sat., Sept. 3, 2016.
Andrei Arlovski vs. Josh Barnett.
Arlovski (25-12, 1 NC) returned to the Octagon in 2014 and quickly racked up four consecutive wins. In fact, “The Pitbull” was probably one marquee victory away from a title fight — until consecutive losses to Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem sent him to the back of the line.
One more loss and it could be the chopping block … again.
Unlike his Belarusian foe, Barnett (34-8) struggled to find consistency following his UFC call-back in 2013. “The Warmaster” is 3-2 during his second stint for the ZUFFA gang, recently getting submitted by Ben Rothwell at UFC on FOX 18 last January.
