Ronda Rousey’s head trainer Edmond Taverdyan is not willing to answer any questions about his fighter’s return at this point.
It has been almost a year since the world last saw Ronda Rousey in action. And whether it is to see her win or lose, fight fans would want to see her step inside the cage sooner than later.
The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion was originally part of the plans for UFC 205 on November 12, as mixed martial arts heads back to New York City. These plans, however, were forced to be scrapped after Rousey had purportedly suffered a knee injury that will keep her further in the sidelines until the year’s end, or even early 2017.
UFC president Dana White says he is optimistic that his biggest superstar will return before the year ends. Interestingly, a report came out in late September about a supposed offer for Rousey to face current champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on December 30th in Las Vegas. Negotiations are said to be ongoing, with nothing finalized yet.
But if it were up to head coach Edmond Taverdyan, Rousey’s return should not be a topic for discussion at this point. When asked by the Los Angeles Times about it, he simply dismissed the conversation altogether.
“You’ve asked before, and made people very upset,” Taverdyan said. “Wait two more months (before asking again).”
