Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Michael Bisping will be taking a short vacation following his unanimous decision win over Dan Henderson (watch it) at the UFC 204 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Saturday night (Oct. 8, 2016) in Manchester, England.
UFC — operating as its own athletic commission — saw to that.
But “The Count” isn’t the only fighter facing a medical suspension after last weekend’s mixed martial arts (MMA) card across the pond. Ovince Saint Preux is also riding the pine for roughly six months after getting the lights turned out by Jimi Manuwa (replay).
That’s not all.
The current list of UFC 204 medical suspensions, courtesy of MMA Junkie:
Michael Bisping: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by a maxillofacial face and head CT scan; minimum suspension 60 days with 45 days no contact for left infraorbital laceration
Dan Henderson: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact for laceration
Gegard Mousasi: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
Vitor Belfort: Suspended 45 days with 30 days no contact
Jimi Manuwa: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
Ovince Saint Preux: Suspended 180 days or until cleared by left knee X-ray; minimum suspension 45 days with 30 days no contact
Daniel Omielanczuk: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
