After UFC 207, Amanda Nunes says ‘for sure’ Ronda Rousey is going to retire.
Following her dominant win at UFC 207, Amanda Nunes said that she managed to say a few words to Ronda Rousey inside the cage. According to the champion, she thanked Rousey for the opportunity, and told her she can now ‘rest’ and maybe retire from the sport.
“I talked to her. ‘You did a lot for this sport. Thank you so much. Now you can take time, rest, and then maybe do something else.’ No need to keep doing that,” Nunes said on the post-fight press conference. “For what? She’s a millionaire already. Why would she want to keep doing that, keep hurting herself.”
Nunes also exuded confidence, saying that she will be holding the belt for a while, so coming back for a rematch wouldn’t make sense for Rousey.
“I’m going to be the champion forever. She has to retire, she’s never going to get there anymore.
“Yeah, that’s it for her. For sure, she’s going to retire,” she said. “She can’t take it anymore. If she wanted a rematch, we’re going to do the same thing, because she can’t take my punches.”
Nunes also went on to criticize Edmond Tarverdyan for making Rousey abandon her judo game and believe she was a boxer.
