Video: George Groves stops Jamie Cox, sets up WBSS semifinal vs. Chris Eubank Jr.

#1 seed George Groves handed Jamie Cox his first pro loss with a vicious body punch KO in the World Boxing Super Series quarterfinals.

WBA super-middleweight champion Georges Groves (27-3, 20 KOs) advanced to the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series tournament, stopping fellow Englishman Jamie Cox (23-1, 13 KOs) with a brutal punch to the body in the fourth round of an entertaining battle at London’s Wembley Arena. Groves was the super-middleweight tournament’s #1 seed, therefore he was one of the four seeded fighters allowed to choose their respective quarterfinal opponents from the unseeded side.

Groves’ win sets up a mouthwatering semifinal clash with Chris Eubank Jr (26-1, 20 KOs), and that will surely be a massive fight for the British boxing fans to savor. No date has been confirmed, but the tournament semis for the super-middleweight and cruiserweight divisions are both slated for January-February 2018.

Not only did Jamie Cox take the first professional loss of his career, but he was left hanging by the ringside interviewer after wrapping up his post-fight chat. Poor guy.
