Midnight Mania! Holloway and Edgar launch the meme wars

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

We’ve got the heavyweight and light heavyweight UFC titles on the line tomorrow night, while possibly the two best welterweights fight in Bellator. I’m stoked. But there is more coming down the pike: the title fights at the upcoming UFC 222 and 223 cards are pretty damn awesome too; Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar at featherweight and Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov at lightweight.

Max Holloway is winning the internet, if you haven’t been paying attention. He’s the hero featherweight deserves, and the one it needs right now.

He started out by trolling Frankie Edgar with this tweet:

Who is….. pic.twitter.com/ttAI5INHnb

— Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA) January 18, 2018

Not nicknamed the Answer for nothing, Frankie Edgar had a pretty good response:

Since we on game show memes I think I like this one……..And New!! @ufc 222

A post shared by Frankie Edgar (@frankieedgar) on Jan 19, 2018 at 10:04am PST

But Max had an answer for the answer, responding by pointing out Edgar’s perennial contender status at featherweight. The underrated part that really makes this tweet is that he made sure to point out he was using Pat Sajak’s voice.

Oooooooh close but the correct answer is (pat sajak voice) pic.twitter.com/JChKUxCVf0

— Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA) January 19, 2018

Yeah, I can’t wait for this one.

You want to get something into Midnight Mania? Sometimes, it’s this simple. Pretty cool to see Khabib’s fans drive hours to see him. He’s got that “it” factor, whatever it is, that authenticity of charisma that makes him a star.

@Vorpality hey bro, i know u do midnight mania, check this guy’s video channel, not just for this video but all the videos, he shows what goes on behind the scenes, https://t.co/5kVgrMc7lS

Sumo can hurt

Say7 sandanme- former makuuchi and hugely popular at the time Masunoyama 3-0 [L], who is slowly but steadily rising back thru ranks after dropping all the way down due to injury. He gets a bit too enthusiastic at the end. Ouch! Vs Aratora 3-0, again ouch! #Janbasho #sumolingo pic.twitter.com/4NsiTl2wiu
