Gabriel Gonzaga’s MMA return did not go well, courtesy of Fedor Emelianenko’s brother.
Aleksander Emelianenko had won three straight fights since getting out of prison, and the brother of Fedor was looking to make it four when he faced off with former UFC heavyweight title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga at RCC 2 in Russia over the weekend. Gonzaga was taking his first MMA fight since retiring in 2016, and it did not go well for him. At all.

Aleks officially picked up a TKO victory at 3:43 of the second round. The bout served as the main event of the night. Emelianenko improved to 27-7 with the win, while Gonzaga fell to 17-12. He has just one win in his last seven outings overall.
Emelianenko was convicted of sexual assault in 2015, but served only a small portion of his sentence before he was released in late 2016. His last three fights, all wins, came in the Akhmat MMA promotion run by Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov.
