Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Tyron Woodley wanted a fight with Georges St. Pierre, but now that GSP is officially retiring, he would settle for facing GSP in the gym. He wrote this on Ariel Helwani’s Instagram post about the French-Canadian champion’s imminent retirement announcement.

Just had a vision of calling him out after my next fight @arielhelwani. Congrats to one of the Greatest! @georgesstpierre since we will never cross paths in the octagon would love to do so in the gym! Would be an honor. You have had the best run of any fighter to grace the caged canvas!

Woodley no doubt hopes to eventually surpass GSP’s run; he has a title defense against Kamaru Usman scheduled for UFC 235. St. Pierre didn’t seem to have much interest in facing Woodley in the Octagon, opting to face Michael Bisping for the middleweight belt instead at UFC 217. He had been hoping to secure a bout with lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov next, again bypassing Woodley altogether, but when negotiations fell through, GSP opted to retire permanently.

Roy Nelson should not have done this.

It is so fitting Israel Adesanya met Kelvin Gastelum at a buffet table

With his retirement imminent, people are reaching for Georges St. Pierre memories. GSP vs. Condit had this excellent segment backed by Live’s “Lightning Crashes” and it’s just awesome.

I missed Al Iaquinta hilariously offering to sell Dustin Poirier a house on Twitter the other day, and it’s worth revisiting

If somehow this were to happen, Khabib Nurmagomedov should just be stripped now. Waiting until November to not defend your belt is the same stuff he criticized Conor McGregor for, and we’ve had enough. The UFC’s deepest division needs to get moving.

Speaking of Georges St. Pierre, he’s repping some cool (if overpriced) gloves
