One-time lightweight contender Diego Sanchez says his days in the lightweight division are over.
After a three-fight stint at 155 pounds that culminated in a December 2009 title shot against then-champion B.J. Penn, Sanchez will stay in a welterweight division in which he spent the bulk of his professional career.
“The options are closed for me to ever go down to 155 (pounds) again,” Sanchez said during a conference call in support of his headlining fight with Martin Kampmann at “UFC on Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann.”
