UFC Rochester results: Heinisch upsets ACJ, Oliveira stops Lentz again

Check out the results and highlights from the UFC Rochester main card, including Ian Heinisch upsetting the ranked Antonio Carlos Junior in the co-main event.

The UFC Rochester main card is in-progress and the unranked Ian Heinisch just won a decision to upset the promotion’s #12 ranked middleweight Antonio Carlos Junior in the co-main event.

“Shoe Face” got off to a great start, closing the distance and owning the control time in the first round. The longer the fight went on, the stronger Heinisch became. He started stuffing the takedown attempts of Shoe Face, and began racking up ground strikes. Despite his BJJ credentials, Shoe Face putting himself on his back proved to be a bad idea. There’s a great chance that the 13-1 Heinisch will be ranked come next week, but also get another ranked opponent in his next outing.

Before that, women’s featherweight Felicia Spencer made good on her debut by submitting Megan Anderson in the opening round. Spencer knew what she wanted to do and took the fight where it best suited her, the ground. Once she had closed the distance on Anderson, she worked vigorously for the takedown and went right to the back. She flattened out her foe and found the rear-naked choke. Spencer remains undefeated as she moves to 7-0.

Also on the main card, the UFC’s #15 ranked welterweight Vicente Luque took out Neil Magny replacement and UFC newcomer, Derrick Krantz, with a first-round TKO. Krantz was game, starting hot and getting right in the face of Luque. A few adjustments were made and Luque found a way to end the match. Luque has won nine of his last ten as the ‘Silent Assassin’ quietly climbs the UFC’s welterweight ladder.

Longtime UFC vets Charles Oliveira and Nik Lentz ran it back against each other for the third time. Oliveira got his striking going in the opening round, using an assortment of elbows, both on the feet and on the ground to cut open Lentz. Come round two, Oliveira dropped Lentz with a laser-like right hand and then finished him off with ground strikes. Oliveira is riding a five-fight winning wave, each of those victim being taken put before the third round. He also now goes up to 2-0-1 NC in his saga with Lentz.

Opening up the main card, Austin Hubbard and Davi Ramos threw down for the majority of fifteen minutes. Each man hurt the other, but it was Ramos who earned him the unanimous nod. The lightweights spent a lot of time standing in front of one another, with Hubbard working his leg kicks and Ramos throwing heavy hands. Ramos was the one who was mixing in his grappling, finding some success with his takedowns in the second round.

Round three heated up. Ramos rocked his foe on the feet, and followed him to the ground to drop ground strikes. Hubbard recovered, and after a probably poor referee standup was able to drop Ramos with a hook to finish up the round on top. Unfortunately for Hubbard, it was too little too late. With the 10-2 Ramos taking the win, he has now won four-straight at 155-pounds, three of them by RNC.
