At age 40, Dan Henderson (27-8) has added another title to his list of accomplishments by earning the Strikeforce light heavyweight title Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio. It would take Henderson until the third round to land his signature right hand dropping opponent, and former champ, Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante to the mat ending the fight at 0:50.

“Leading up to this fight everyone was talking about the belt, but I didn’t give it much thought till now. Its going to be an honor to have the Strikeforce belt but my main focus was to win the fight.”

“I know that this one feels really good, it’s real special. Being 40 years old and still being able to compete with the top dogs, the young up-and-comers, the strong guys. I feel good.”
“Beating a tough opponent like that was the most important thing. And this was just the cherry on top, but I do like cherries. It’s been a while since I won a belt, and this one feels like it’s the most important to me right now because I wanted to prove that I could still compete with the top guys.”
