Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will have to decide what to do with the 135-pound division now that Henry Cejudo, who captured the vacant crown by finishing Marlon Moraes at UFC 238, splits his time between flyweight and bantamweight upon his 2020 return.
Perhaps an interim title is in order?
The two most deserving contenders are Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan, ranked No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, though it sounds like “Wank Master” will be kissing the canvas — butt first — if and when they meet.
“I will come out to beat him and punish him,” Yan, 26, told MMA Junkie. “He never faced anyone like me. His strikes are just scoring points and not hurting anyone, my strikes are meant to hurt you and when I will connect his butt will kiss the octagon floor.”
Yan (13-1) recently underwent elbow surgery but is expected to resume training in as little as four weeks and expects to be even more dangerous than ever. Sterling (18-3), meanwhile, continues to show “No Mercy” on Twitter.
