Dana White says it’s ‘sad’ that Jon Jones could’ve been the Michael Jordan of MMA if not for his outside troubles.
Jon Jones is facing yet another legal issue, after recently being charged with battery for an alleged incident in a strip club. When asked about the UFC champion facing more troubles outside the Octagon, Dana White says he’s not even surprised anymore.
“I’m kinda numb to it these days,” White told Jim Rome. “I don’t even know what to say about it. It’s almost to be expected. I’m over being pissed. Every time Jon Jones fights, I think it might be his last fight because I just never know what will happen with Jon.
“There’s two sides to every story, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. They both have a side to this story, and I don’t know. Let’s see how it plays out with him.”
White went on to praise Jones for his in cage performance, saying it’s “sad” that he could’ve been MMA’s Michael Jordan if not for his numerous issues outside the cage.
“It really is unbelievable how talented Jon Jones is. I say it all the time, and I will probably be saying it for the rest of my life — it’s sad to see what this guy could’ve accomplished,” he said. “I think that Jon Jones could’ve been a Jordan-esque type figure for the sport.”
Jones recently claimed that he’s “definitely not in any trouble” from this alleged incident last April.
