Before every main event, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will promote its respective headliners with select videos from the ever-growing archives. For this week, it starts with Polish power-puncher Jan Blachowicz.
The longtime light heavyweight contender is headed into hostile territory to welcome former middleweight bruiser, Ronaldo Souza, to the 205-pound weight class in the UFC Fight Night 164 main event this Sat. (Nov. 16, 2019) inside Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Blachowicz (24-8) is coming off his murderous knockout finish over former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold at UFC 239 last July, who like “Jacare,” expected to shake off some of his 185-pound struggles with an easier weight cut.
Let’s hope the Brazilian fares a little better than his former Strikeforce nemesis.
The victory helped Blachowicz, 36, rebound from his UFC Fight Night 145 setback against Thiago Santos and marked his fifth win in six trips to the cage. He currently stands at No. 6 in the official UFC rankings (see them here).
