Reigning UFC women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes continued her dominance last night (Sat., Dec. 14, 2019) at UFC 245 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, as she outlasted game challenger Germaine de Randamie via unanimous decision to retain her 135-pound title.

Nunes landed early and hard as she pushed inside. The champ eventually took the fight to the ground with a beautifully-timed takedown and then landed heavy ground-and-pound that put “Iron Lady” on thin ice. De Randamie did survive but the round was completely one sided.

Nunes landed another takedown in Round 2 after GDR got busy in the standup. De Randmie would return to her feet to land a slick question mark kick that caught Nunes on the back of the head. From there, de Randamie would launch powerful knees inside and to the body that hurt the champ. Nunes looked in more trouble than we’ve seen in a long time, but still pushed through it.

“Lioness” once again secured a takedown along the cage and scored punches in bunches from top position in the third round. De Randamie landed some shots from the bottom and eventually found a home for a vicious up kick. Nunes was hurt but kept busy and landed hard elbows. It was much of the same in the fourth round as the champion got top control and scored ground-and-pound at will. De Randamie did briefly threaten with a tight triangle choke but it wasn’t enough.

Nunes went back to the ground game in the fifth round and that’s essentially where the fight ended. She didn’t do much damage down the stretch but it was enough to stay in position and secure her fifth-straight title defense.
