“From watching interviews, hearing things, I don’t think so. I think buddy goes a different path.”
Jorge Masvidal vs. Conor McGregor was a hot talking point in the immediate aftermath of UFC 244 but, as of today, ‘Gamebred’ seems much less enthused about the match-up.
Speaking to Submission Radio in a recent interview, the newly-crowned ‘BMF’ champ said he expects McGregor to go on ‘a different path’ if he beats Donald Cerrone next week at UFC 246.
“I don’t know if Conor wins it means that he fights me,” Masvidal said of McGregor’s welterweight bout against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. I really don’t know that. I don’t think so. From watching interviews, hearing things, I don’t think so. I think buddy goes a different path. Maybe I’m just looking into the future, but I don’t think so. I think I’m gonna end up making owl soup at some point this year.”
McGregor had teased of a BMF showdown with Masvidal in the past but the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion’s number one priority seems to be capturing a third world title and becoming the first three-division champ in UFC history.
Before there’s any talk of that, though, McGregor must first get past Cerrone. The Irishman will take on ‘Cowboy’ in the UFC 246 main event next Saturday, Jan. 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
