Alex Perez looked incredible last night (Sat., Jan 25, 2020) at UFC Fight Night 166 live on ESPN+ from inside PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, when he outclassed fellow flyweight contender Jordan Espinosa to the tune of a first-round submission finish (arm triangle choke).

Perez came out focused and made his presence felt with whipping leg kicks. Espinosa used his erratic footwork and movement to try to launch his own offense, but Perez was there to secure a timely takedown along the cage. Perez then went to work and moved into position for a tight arm triangle choke. Despite Espinosa’s attempt to free the grip along the fence Perez continued to squeeze for the eventual stoppage.

With this performance, Perez locks down his second win since dropping a TKO loss to current title challenger Joseph Benavidez back in 2018. That is the only loss for Perez in his six fights with UFC and the only time he was finished by strikes in his 28-fight professional career. This win was truly impressive and should net Perez a top 10 opponent his next time out.
