Although he thinks Dana White will be around for a lot longer, Daniel Cormier wouldn’t pass up becoming the president of the UFC.
Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier has said he would be “crazy” not to consider the chance of becoming the president of the UFC if he was offered the role.
The 42-year-old is one of the most accomplished mixed martial artists of all time. Cormier (22-2, 1NC) is the first and only fighter to defend UFC titles in different weight classes, reigning as the king of the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions at one point in his career.
Speaking to MMA Fighting when asked about becoming UFC president, Cormier said “anybody in their right mind” would take the job.
“I think anybody in the world in their right mind would [take the job],” Cormier said. “To be at the head of an organization that does so many great things in terms of entertainment, and not only that, but community help. I think what people don’t see is the type of influence that the UFC has in the community. The work that they do with youth programs and programs around the world.”
Even former UFC welterweight Ben Askren recently asked the question of Cormier eventually taking over White’s role. Cormier also said even if the presidency role isn’t offered to him, he would gladly consider any other job opportunities offered to him by the UFC.
“I think if you ever have an opportunity or anyone has an opportunity to do a job like that, they would be insane not to hope to have that opportunity. But Dana’s going to be here for a long time. Dana’s the man.”
