The world was delivered shocking news Friday night when it learned that actor Chadwick Boseman, who is best known for his portrayal of Marvel’s “Black Panther,” had passed away at the age of 43.
Boseman, who also starred as Jackie Robinson and James Brown on the silver screen, had lost a four-year battle with colon cancer. He passed away in his California home alongside his wife and family.
Here is an official statement released to Boseman’s Instagram account late last night:
“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
??Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV. ??
A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. ??
It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. ??
He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. ??
The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time. “
Boseman’s untimely death has sparked much reaction around the world. From fellow celebrities to world-class athletes, all had something to say about the passing of “Black Panther.” After all, Boseman was one of the most beloved actors of the past 10 years and an artist who had so much left to offer.
Joining those in paying tribute to Boseman was a slew of notable MMA fighters, including the likes of Jon Jones, Francis Ngannou, Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje. While all had their own ways of remembering Boseman and his legendary performances, each and every fighter expressed their deepest regret in seeing the 43-year-old actor pass away.
