A former sumo wrestler scored the fastest knockout finish in RIZIN Fighting Federation history over the weekend and it was pretty glorious.
Tsuyoshi Sudario, a 23-year-old former sumo wrestler, was making his third appearance under the RIZIN banner this past weekend at RIZIN 27. The young heavyweight was matched up against former professional wrestler Kazushi Miyamoto, who was making his MMA debut.
Things did not last long in this heavyweight fight as Sudario quickly closed the gap and knocked Miyamoto to the canvas. As Miyamoto returned to his feet he made the No. 1 mistake as a fighter and briefly turned his back. That’s when Sudario launched a punishing right hand that stiffened Miyamoto and sent him flying back into the ropes.
While the official fight clock showed eight seconds removed at the time of the stoppage RIZIN’s social media account confirmed the finish happened in just six seconds, giving Sudario the fastest knockout stoppage in promotion history. Check it out in the above video player.
Sudario, who made his MMA debut in Sept. 2020, is now 3-0 in his career with three first-round knockout finishes. It will be nice to see the young heavyweight matched up with someone with a little more experience and promise, but this was quite the performance by the former sumo standout.
