A middleweight bout between Tom Breese and Antonio Arroyo has been removed from UFC Vegas 28’s main card tonight (Sat. June 5, 2021) live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The cancelation was announced during the “Prelims” broadcast on ESPN+ moments before the main card started. According to UFC officials, Breese suffered a medical issue and was unable to compete. UFC color commentator Michael Bisping said Breese does suffer from “anxiety issues,” but it’s unknown at this time if that is in fact the reason for his withdrawal.
Believe it or not, this is the third time Breese has successfully made weight only to pull out 24 hours before a fight. Obviously his health is the most important thing at this time, but it’s unfortunate for Arroyo who also made weight and was moments away from walking out to the Octagon to spark the UFC Vegas 28 main card.
With the cancelation, a “Prelims” matchup between women’s flyweights Montana De La Rosa and Ariane Lipski has been moved to the main card. The updated UFC Vegs 28 main card is as follows:
Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Augusto Sakai
Walt Harris vs. Marcin Tybura
Roman Dolidze vs. Laureano Staropoli
Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Miguel Baeza
Dusko Todorovic vs. Gregory Rodrigues
Montana De La Rosa vs. Ariane Lipski
