Despite not earning the win over Clay Guida in his UFC debut like he had hoped, UFC lightweight contender Anthony Pettis still left an impression on fans that have them praising his skills.
However, fellow UFC newcomer, Donald Cerrone, shares a different opinion on the former WEC Lightweight Champion.
“Pettis is overrated,” Cerrone said during an interview on ProMMARadio earlier this week, courtesy of FightersOnly.co.uk.
“I just think he’s too flashy. He’s not what everyone thinks he is.”
Cerrone also criticised Pettis’ decision to accept a fight against Clay Guida at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale, a decision that cost him his chance at a title shot.
Both fighters currently sit on the opposite side of the spectrum, as Cerrone is currently riding a four fight win streak and Pettis recently had his streak snapped. Cerrone looks to continue his winning ways against Mac Danzig at UFC 140 in December.
But from until then both competitors’ schedule appear to be open and Cerrone said he would be open to the idea of competing against the 24-year-old.
“Who knows? Hopefully he goes against me, because that would be awesome,” he said.
