UFC middleweight fighter Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping (22-4) has apparently split with his longtime training camp, the “Wolfslair MMA Academy” which is based in the United Kingdom.
Bisping has been a longtime feature of the gym which also includes well known names as former UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and current UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo.
MMAjunkie.com confirmed the news of Bisping’s departure on Thursday night with sources close to the gym, but were not provided with exact details.
Bisping is coming off a No. 1 contender loss to Chael Sonnen last month in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 2 from Chicago, Illinois. Many had given ‘The Count’ little chance versus Sonnen, but the Brit showed just how good he was by stuffing many of his opponents takedowns and scoring with his punches. Despite what some saw as a win for Bisping, it was Sonnen who would earn the decision.
The loss ended a four fight win streak which had Bisping stop opponents Jason Miller and Jorge Rivera at the TUF 14 Finale and at UFC 127 respectively, while earning unanimous decisions over Yoshihio Akiyama at UFC 127 and Dan Miller at UFC 114.
