Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White announced another fight on Twitter (@danawhite) late Monday night, offering up a middleweight tilt between former Strikeforce champ Jake Shields (27-6-1), who returns to the 185-lbs division, and Ed ‘Short Fuse’ Herman (20-7) for the upcoming UFC 150 in Denver.
– UFC 150 Sat Aug 11 Denver, CO Middleweight Bout Ed Herman VS Jake Shields. I like that fight!
UFC 150 is expected to take place on August 11, 2012 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The event is expected to host a lightweight title rematch between champ Ben Henderson and Frankie Edgar.
Shields makes his return to middleweight after going 2-2 as a welterweight in the Octagon since joining the promotion in the summer of 2010. Shields made the decision to move back up a division after earning a unanimous decision against Yoshihiro Akiyama last February. Shields earned a unanimous decision over the Japanese Judoka at UFC 144, earning his first win after two straight losses.
Herman has won three straight, turning things around after a 1-3 streak which also saw him sidelined for almost two years due to a knee injury suffered at UFC 102. ‘Short Fuse’ appeared at UFC 143 in his last fight, using a rear-naked choke to submit Clifford Starks at UFC 143 in Las Vegas. The other wins in his current streak include a submission over Kyle Noke and a TKO victory against Tim Credeur.
