An errand eye poke ended things prematurely between Octagon newcomer Wagner Prado (7-0) and Phil ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Davis (9-1) who squared off Saturday night on the preliminary card of UFC on FOX 4.
Davis would accidentally poke Prado in the eye just 88-seconds into the light heavyweight fight, drawing blood from under the eye. Despite being given time to recover, Prado told the cage-side doctor that he was still unable to see, resulting in a “No Contest” between the two.
Fans at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California let out a chorus of boos once the official announcement was made.
At the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White let the media know that he and matchmaker Joe Silva had already spoken about when the two fighters might meet again.
“Me and Joe were talking, and maybe we put them on in Minneapolis provided his eye is okay and he doesn’t have any problems, we’ll move them to that card.
White is of course talking about UFC on FX 5, which is scheduled for October 5, 2012 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
