This past weekend another name emerged as a possible opponent for UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva in former Strikeforce title holder, and actor, Cung Le (9-2).
Silva’s manager Ed Soares offered up Le’s name as a possible opponent in a recent interview, explaining that ‘The Spider’ is looking to fight someone with a name fans will recognize.
On Monday, Le was a guest on The MMA Hour (@MMAFighting.com) and was asked to give his thoughts on being named as a possible contender for the longtime middleweight champ.
“If the UFC wants me to fight after our discussion, I’m totally open for it…. ”
“If the fight would ever happen, I wouldn’t be scared because he’s pound-for-pound the best fighter in the world,” he said. “I’d be excited to see how I do, whether I get beat up or whatever. It doesn’t matter. That’s why we compete. That’s why we challenge ourselves. That’s what makes us who we are, and I love the challenge.”
Le earned an impressive one punch knockout victory this past November against former UFC champ Rich Franklin in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 6 in Macau, China. The victory earned Le the “Knockout of the Night” bonus for the event. Le has now won two straight and is 2-1 since debuting with the UFC in fall of last year. The actor won a decision against Patrick Cote at UFC 148 and suffered a TKO loss to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 139.
