Conor McGregor has made headlines once again, but all for the wrong reasons.

The former UFC “champ champ” was arrested in Miami, Florida this week for strong-arm robbery and criminal mischief. He was charged with bonds of $7,500 and $5,000. The Irishman allegedly took a fan’s cell phone and stomped on it, before taking it for himself. We now know when McGregor will have his next – and latest – court date.

According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, McGregor’s arraignment is scheduled for April 10th per the Florida State Attorney’s office.

Should McGregor enter a written plea of not guilty beforehand, he will not be required to appear in court:

“Conor McGregor’s arraignment is scheduled for April 10, per the Florida State Attorney’s office. First reported by @marc_raimondi. If McGregor enters a written plea of not guilty beforehand, he will not be required to appear at the hearing.”

McGregor has had run-ins with the law before. He was arrested in New York back in April of last year when he attacked a fighter bus carrying UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor was jailed and fined for the incident. He’s in the midst of a lawsuit with UFC fighter Michael Chiesa, who was injured during the attack. The suit is expected to be settled out of court, however.

Rising welterweight competitor Ben Askren may have his sights fixed on Nate Diaz today, but it’s still time Dillon Danis claps back at ‘Funky’ in their ongoing beef.

Yesterday, Danis claimed he would pay $1 million to fight Askren in his first interview since the controversial UFC 229 post-fight brawl. That lead to Askren responding with a series of tweets and ‘#BoomRoasted’ videos on social media that had the MMA world ablaze.

Today, Danis has his own response in similar style, as he made fun of ‘Funky’s appearance’ online this morning:

This afternoon, Danis also called out Askren for claiming that he had teammate Tyron Woodley ready for his one-sided loss to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235:

Ouch. It’s a brutal dig in that Askren did claim he was a better version of Usman. Clearly he was not, or his efforts did not work, as ‘The Chosen One was dominated over five rounds in one of the more one-sided UFC title fights we’ve seen that didn’t end in a knockout or tapout.

Danis has quickly made a name for himself in the fight game. Most of it is for his over-the-top trash talking, however. He has only one professional fight on his record, a submission win in his Bellator debut last April. He’s currently suspended for his involvement in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl but is eligible to return soon in May.

As for Askren, he’s coming off a questionable win over Robbie Lawler at UFC 235. The undefeated former ONE champion is currently campaigning to fight the winner of the Darren Till vs. Jorge Masvidal at this weekend’s UFC London.

Police arrested the president of CES Boxing after allegations that he attacked a losing boxer at one of his shows.

Police were called to Twin River Casino in Lincoln, RI a few weeks back after a bizarre incident that occurred at a boxing event (per WPRI). The incident ended with the arrest of a boxing promoter and allegations that he taunted and attacked a TKO’d fighter.

This all took place on Saturday, February 23rd during a Classic Entertainment & Sports (CES) Boxing show. CES boxing, and its sister company CES MMA, are both based in Providence, RI. CES is one of the most recognizable brands in New England regional combat sports.

The February 23rd show featured Marcia Agripino defeating Amanda Pavone for the vacant USA New England Super Bantamweight title and Ricardo Quiroz besting Jamaine Ortiz for the vacant WBC Youth World Lightweight Title.

However, the fight which will be most remembered from this card was Joe Cusumano vs. Brendan Barrett. Cusumano won the bout with a TKO in the sixth round. After Barrett was counted out, chaos erupted on the ring apron.

According to reports, after the bout was called off Jimmy Burchfield Sr., president of both CES boxing and CES MMA, climbed onto the apron and began taunting Barrett. Barrett then, reportedly, yelled at Burchfield and others outside of the ring.

That’s when Richard Cappiello, who was on the apron allegedly taunting Barrett along with Burchfield, fell back onto the ground. It’s alleged that when this happened, Burchfield then swung at Barrett three times with a closed fist.

It is alleged that Cappiello then jumped back onto the ring apron and also lashed out at Barrett. Both Burchfield and Cappiello were arrested soon after.

The incident was captured on VIVE Network television and has been shared on YouTube by user Domenico101MMA.

Burchfield was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. Cappiello was initially charged with just disorderly conduct. However, after police reviewed surveillance footage — which allegedly showed Cappiello making contact with Barrett — he was also charged with simple assault.

A 2009 article from South Coast Today reported that Cappiello was also a boxing promoter, who merged his promotion with Burchfield’s CES company. That report also stated that Cappiello was concentrated primarily on fighter development at the time.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently updated its official rankings and oh hey, look who it is, Junior dos Santos is back in the heavyweight Top 5 after putting a Brazilian beatdown on “Black Beast” last weekend in Wichita.

If you’re too cheap for an ESPN+ subscription you can watch the highlights here.

In defeat, Lewis drops to No. 5, though I will say the most surprising update of them all in terms of this week’s movement is the specific non-movement of Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, who captured his seventh straight win by wrecking Curtis Millender (video).

Whatever.

Here’s how the rankings work, courtesy of UFC.com:

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Take a look at what the latest rankings field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, *NR = Not previously ranked).
