After fighting to a split decision earlier this year, Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley entered the boxing ring once again for a rematch in Tampa, FL.
Let’s see how things played out.
Round 1:
It was a relatively uneventful first round as both fighters appeared hesitant. Paul and Woodley traded orthodox jabs but clinched multiple times in the opening minutes, as the referee broke them up.
Round 2:
The pace began to pick up a little bit in the second round, and Paul started to find his footing. Both Woodley and Paul landed some solid shots on the inside, but there weren’t too many damaging shots in the round. Paul was the more active fighter by a slight margin.
Round 3:
Woodley began to pen up a bit more in the third round, especially with the straight right hand. There appeared to be an accidental elbow that opened up a brutal cut on Paul, and Paul appeared to have issues with his vision as blood dropped into his eyes. Woodley had Paul in a brief moment of trouble against the ropes, before slowing down.
Round 4:
Woodley opened up the fourth round with a flurry of combinations but appeared to take his foot off the gas as Paul started to fatigue. Woodley, in a clinching position with Paul, took him down with a UFC-esque move. The referee issued a brief warning and the fight resumed. Paul is breathing through his mouth and appears tired, but Woodley isn’t pouring out volume.
Round 5:
Paul and Woodley continued to engage in the clinch throughout the round despite multiple warnings from the referee. There appeared to also be an accidental headbutt by Woodley. Woodley landed a fast flurry of 1-2 combinations towards the end of the round but didn’t follow up. Paul landed a few decent hooks.
Round 6:
The sixth round began a bit slow with both men engaging the clinch, but Paul landed the decisive blow that send Woodley collapsing to the canvas for the knockout win. It was an overhand right hook that Paul set up from the hip that landed clean to Woodley’s left temple and ended the fight immediately. Doctors immediately came into the ring to attend to Woodley, and he appeared out for at least a full minute.
Check out the vicious knockout from the highly-anticipated rematch between Paul and Woodley.

Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley went to war a second time tonight (Sat., Dec. 18, 2021) from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida in the main event of Showtime Boxing: “Paul vs. Woodley 2.” Not all that long ago, Paul wrote off the idea of rematching Woodley. The time for that bout had seemingly passed, and Paul was ready for a new challenge. When Tommy Fury withdrew from his match up vs. Paul just a couple weeks out from the event, Woodley was ready and willing to jump back in opposite his heated rival.
What was at stake in tonight’s main event? Pride, mostly. Paul was looking to continue his undefeated rise through the unofficial boxing ranks, whereas Woodley was trying to avenge his own performance.
Follow along below for live updates and highlight clips:
His early punches are blocked, but it’s Woodley throwing to start! Paul sneaks a jab through the guard then targets the mid-section. A couple clinches without much action eat up the middle of the round. Woodley keeps the jab active, takes another body shot. Woodley connects with a left hook. Body jab from Paul. Another. Bit of a nothing round. 10-9 Paul
Round Two
Paul scores first with another body shot, which is clearly a focus for him. He comes over the top with a solid right hand soon afterward. Lots of holding from both men. Woodley goes body-head and lands. Paul connects with a good left hook … then another clinch. Paul lands a nice combination from inside the pocket. Not an active round, but a more clear one for “The Problem Child.” 10-9 Paul
Paul lands a pair of rights to start the round. Woodley connects with a pair of overhands of his own, his best connections of the match so far! Woodley follows up with a combo. Paul rips the body with a right hook. Stiff jab from Paul, then an uppercut. Woodley lands a glancing right before another clinch. 10-9 Woodley
Round Four
Paul again lands to the body with a 1-2. Woodley sneaks an uppercut through the guard. Uppercut to the body from Paul. Woodley clinches up and lands some okay shots to the body from in-close. Woodley double leg takedown! I don’t think that’s allowed. Body jab from Paul. So much clinching. To quote the referee, “Come on, y’all!” Major nothing round. 10-9 Woodley
If you love clinching, this is your fight! Double jab from Paul. Rare combination from Woodley. Continued clinch work between every other punch. No one is really able to take control of the flow. The highlight of the round is likely another clash of heads! 10-9 Paul
Round Six
Body jab from Paul … followed by a clinch. Nice body-head 3-2 from Paul lands. Stiff jab from Woodley, but Paul answers with a 1-2-3. Nice counter uppercut from Woodley. Each of these lands is getting interrupted by a clinch. Ugly attempt at a combo from Paul. HOLY CRAP, PAUL LANDS A GIGANTIC RIGHT HAND AND WOODLEY IS ASLEEP! UNBELIEVABLE!

Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado are here to breakdown this Saturday’s, December 18th, ‘UFC Vegas 45: Derrick Lewis vs. Chris Daukaus’ Fight Night event. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event.
Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here, recording for you late Saturday, December 18th., 2021, to breakdown the UFC Vegas 45: ‘Lewis vs. Daukaus’ Fight Night event, which was broadcast at the APEX Center in good old Las Vegas, NV.
The UFC showcased a Heavyweight brawl in the main event of UFC Vegas 45. We had the No. 3 UFC ranked, former Legacy FC Heavyweight Champion & former Bellator competitor, Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis, with a 25-8 record, specializing in BJJ, entering the octagon to combat the No. 7 ranked former police officer, who is also notably the younger brother of fellow UFC fighter Kyle Daukaus, with a current record of 12-3, but undefeated in the UFC, with four KO’s of his own. Despite their rankings, Lewis managed to enter this bout as a slight underdog with Daukaus being favored by the oddsmakers. It made no difference to Lewis what the odds were, he intended to walk in, get a vintage early knockout to top off his UFC KO record… and that is just what he did.
Outcome: Lewis holds the record for the most knockouts in UFC history, with 13. Does that about sum it up? Yep.
“5 rounds? Y’all fucking me up with that.” – Derrick Lewis on why he wanted to go for the early KO. Says he wants his next fight to be 3 rounds #UFCVegas45
Meanwhile, the co-main event featured Welterweight contenders Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Belal ‘Remember the Name’ Muhammad, in a brawl which many felt should have been the main event. No. 5 ranked, South Carolina Kickboxing Phenom, Thompson held a 16-5 record entering the octagon tonight. Meanwhile, the Chicagoan BJJ expert, Muhammad, was ranked down in the No. 10 slot, after having formerly competed for Bellator and Titan FC he holds a record of 19-3 walking into this bout.
Outcome: Muhammad secured the biggest win in his career with a Unanimous Decision victory over ‘Wonderboy’. Belal got several takedowns throughout the Welterweight tilt, taking Thompson’s back with significant strikes nearly getting a stoppage at the end of the first round. Thompson got in a few shots and made a choke attempt to defend a takedown, but he spent a lot of time on his back being controlled by Muhammad for the majority of the fight.
“The only thing I’m feeling right now is Kamaru Usman, I need that title shot.” – Belal Muhammad, who then also calls out Leon Edwards for a rematch. #UFCVegas45
Feels like the worst Thompson has ever looked in a loss. Still, a fantastic win for Muhammad though. Real changing of the guard fight among the welterweight elite. #UFCVegas45
Prior to the headlining bouts, we were graced with compelling showdowns including: Women’s Strawweights Amanda Lemos and Angela Hill with a squeaker of a split decision victory by Lemos, securing her fifth straight win, and an impressive Bantamweight bout featuring Raphael Assunção and Ricky Simón with a second round finish, bringing Ricky’s win streak to four, an exciting Lightweight affair between Diego Ferreira and Mateusz Gamrot in a two round frantic tilt, as well as a highly-anticipated Featherweight bout, where Darren Elkins and Cub Swanson battled for a whole two minutes, twelve seconds tonight… Cub dominated Elkins with strikes and a kick to the head before Herb Dean stepped in.
“A lot of respect for her, after that front kick to the face and the shots after, to have a resilience to still stay in the fight, it was really impressive to me.” – Amanda Lemos on Angela Hill #UFCVegas45
“If Sean O’Malley can get Dana White’s permission, we’ve been trying to make that happen for a while. But we’re not trying to bully the kid into a fight.” – Ricky Simon #UFCVegas45
Mateusz Gamrot calls out Michael Chandler, points to his 1-2 UFC record, says there’s no point in calling out McGregor because he’s just a businessman now. #UFCVegas45

The UFC Vegas 45 bonuses have been released. The event took place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility. Headlining the card was a heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus.
This fight didn’t last long Lewis controlled the entire fight. Lewis caught him with a combo before they clinched. Coming out of that, Lewis hurt him with right hooks before unleashing with more strikes and Daukaus dropped. Lewis now has the most knockout wins in the history of the UFC.
The co-main event saw more action between Stephen Thompson and Belal Muhammad.
This fight saw Belal dominate the former title contender. While Thompson was able to land some kicks early, Belal dominated this fight with his takedown and holding Thompson in position on the ground. Belal did score a late round takedown where he got his back and dished out a lot of damage. In the next two rounds, Belal continued to score takedowns and kept Thompson in side control. Thompson did stuff one takedown in the third round, but it wasn’t enough and couldn’t overcome the challenge. Belal got the decision win.
This event had 10 finishes, tied for 3rd most in modern UFC history. It was just behind UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Bisping and UFC 224 to have more finishes in modern UFC history with 11 each. Peep the full list of bonus winners below.

The prelims portion of the show opened with Jordan Leavitt snaring Matt Sayles in the ultra-rare inverted triangle in the second round, kicking the show off to a tremendous start. Josh Parisian would fall to Don’Tale Mayes via TKO in the third round after an intense battle between the heavies. Raquel Pennington trapped Macy Chiasson in a guillotine she couldn’t escape from, taking the submission victory in the second round. Charles Jourdain dominated Andre Ewell from start to finish, battering the living daylights out of Ewell so much that many on social media found it a hard watch. Melissa Gatto knocked out Sijara Eubanks in the third round, handing ‘SarJ’ her seventh loss in the process. Justin Tafa wasted no time sending Harry Hunsucker to the nether realms with a first round TKO. Gerald Meerschaert secured his 26th submission win when he caught Dustin Stolzfus in a rear-naked choke in the third round to finish off the undercard.
Gerald Meerschaert def. Dustin Stoltzfus by submission (RNC) at 2:58 of round 3: Middleweight
Justin Tafa def. Harry Hunsucker by TKO at 1:53 of round 1: Heavyweight
Melissa Gatto def. Sijara Eubanks by TKO at :45 of round 3: (W) Flyweight
Charles Jourdain def. Andre Ewell by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 29-27): Featherweight

Don’Tale Mayes def. Josh Parisian by TKO at 3:26 of round 3: Heavyweight
Jordan Leavitt def. Matt Sayles by submission (Inverted Triangle) at 2:05 of round 2: Lightweight
The main card opened with Cub Swanson boxing up Darren Elkins pretty handily, scoring the first round TKO finish to kick off this portion of the event. That was followed by Mateusz Gamrot taking the win away from Diego Ferreira via second round TKO. Ricky Simon absolutely melted Raphael Assuncao via second round knockout after tuning him up the entire first round. One has to think Assuncao isn’t long for the UFC at this point. Angela Hill was once again in a close split-decision battle that saw her come out on the losing end when Amanda Lemos got the nod. I had it for Hill, yet somehow, a judge saw it 30-27 for Lemos. Belal Muhammad worked Stephen Thompson over like a Christmas dinner, controlling the range and eating ‘Wonderboy’ up with punches on the inside, and owning the takedown game and grappling handily. We will remember your name, Belal.
The main event saw Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus try to be cautious of each other for about 70 seconds before Lewis started cornering Chris and then opening up on him. Daukaus tried to defend but the Beast was all over him, demolishing him with one devastating blow after another, scoring the first round KO. He then pulled his cup out of his shorts and threw it into the audience, following that moment with an epic interview where he declared he didn’t want to be the main event anymore because “F* those five rounds!” Lewis now holds the record for most knockouts inside the UFC octagon. HUZZAH!

#3 ranked UFC heavyweight contender, Derrick Lewis has put August interim title woes behind him, stopping Chris Daukaus with a big first round knockout win — to become the most prolific knockout artist in the history of the organization at UFC Vegas 45.
Patiently waiting for his opening, Lewis found himself on the receiving end of some notable, heavy leg kicks from Philadelphia native, Daukaus, before replying with a lengthy combination while swarming the Pennsylvania native.
Clipping Daukuas in the clinch, Lewis managed to force the former backward at the fence, before finally flattening the #7 ranked contender, folding him and scoring his thirteenth heavyweight knockout win — before calling for a championship challenge, over the course of three rounds, no less, in his next Octagon walk.
Below, catch Derrick Lewis’ knockout win over Chris Daukuas.
