Kevin Holland beats up another troll.

“He wanted all the smoke”

Why do people keep trying to challenge professional fighters?

After quickly choking out an online troll who repeatedly called him out recently, UFC welterweight Kevin Holland handed out another ass kicking to another random MMA fan. The 14th ranked fighter said this latest “troll” came up to him during a meet and greet, describing how “he wanted all the smoke” and “thought it would be funny to pretend to call me Brunson.”

Then came another gym challenge, where Holland happily taught him a lesson in the ring. While the first troll challenged Holland to grapple, this one involved striking, and the UFC fighter unsurprisingly handled him effortlessly.

In the clip he posted, it showed Holland land two light punches, before proceeding to spam left body kicks. The random MMA fan clearly didn’t know how to react or defend, and Holland just made him quit.

A scream of “Stop bro!” was heard on the clip, as Holland — although clearly not throwing with power — hurt him to the body by just landing the same strike over and over.

Watch the video below (it’s to the right of his Istagram post).

Unlike the first online troll that kept harassing him, Holland says he respected this guy for showing up and taking the beating because he “ended up being respectful.”

Like I mentioned the first time, these two MMA fans are lucky that Holland was still being nice to them in the gym as he could’ve easily done worse. As we’ve seen time and time again, things have gone so much worse for the other random people who disrespected and called out actual professionals before.

It’s never a smart idea to challenging UFC fighters, but hopefully Holland’s latest tweet means at least some of those keyboard warriors now know better.

Tai Tuivasa finally convinced Dana White to do a (cleaner version of the) shoey.

“If the world was on fire and everybody was dying of thirst, that’s the last f—king thing I would ever do. Ever.”

That was Dana White in July last year, when asked about the chances of him ever doing a shoey with Tai Tuivasa.

Seven months later, and the popular heavyweight managed to convince Dana White to change his tune. The UFC President finally did a shoey with Tuivasa after his big win at UFC 271.

“He f—king did alright, actually,” Tuivasa said about White’s shoey. “He was fine. He downed the whole thing too. He did well.”

Watch him chug a beer and do a cleaner version of the shoey in the clip below:

What likely convinced the UFC President to go through with it is that unlike what Tuivasa routinely does, they didn’t use an actual shoe that someone wore all day. Instead, he drank beer from Tuivasa’s new product, the “Shoeyvasa,” which is pretty much like a short beer bong in the shape of a shoe.

Here’s how it looks from his website:

[CW: Joke about domestic violence]

Soon after his successful title defense at UFC 271, Israel Adesanya is back to taking shots at Jon Jones on social media. As Valentine’s Day came up, the UFC middleweight champion decided to jab at Jones’ domestic violence arrest by posting a meme.

Be warned, it’s a pretty offensive joke about a serious topic, but it’s also unsurprising given the way the pair have attacked each other for months.

Jones was arrested in September 2021 for an incident involving his fiancee, and was charged for misdemeanour battery domestic violence and felony damage to a vehicle. Last December, Jones reportedly avoided jail time by accepting a plea deal. He was instead ordered to just pay restitution to the victim, take anger management counseling and not commit another crime.

That was just one of Jones’ many arrests and controversies though the years that overshadowed his mixed martial arts career.

This is UFC 271 in a few short tweets!

UFC 271 is in the books, and while the rematch between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker looked incredibly different, the victor is the same. It was a competitive and very technical affair between two high level MMA fighters, but Adesanya managed to control distance, defend takedowns and win more rounds. With the victory, it marks Adesanya’s fourth title defense of his middleweight crown.

Perhaps the show stealer too was Tai Tuivasa, who brutally knocked out Derrick Lewis and has completed an insane career resurgence. From three straight losses and being released, he now not only extended his KO streak to five, but also established himself as a true top contender in the division.

The rest of the card was entertaining too. Here we analyze the pros and cons of each of the key bouts, with a quick twitter thread that’s short and fitting for people’s social media era attention spans:

And that’s about it. For more social media musings, follow me on twitter over at @antontabuena, and of course you should do that for Bloody Elbow’s official twitter account as well.
