Former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz somehow fought in a boxing ring on Saturday night. The fight was supposedly at 195 lbs, but Ortiz missed weight and gave a chunk of his purse to Silva.

It was the first professional boxing match of the former UFC light heavyweight champion in Ortiz, while Silva is 2-1 as a boxer and is fresh off an impressive win over former boxing champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr last June.

The skill difference was evident from the get go. Ortiz threw wild looping power shots, which Silva mostly dodged easily. The Spider then countered perfectly and brutally KO’d Ortiz early in the first round.

Watch highlights from the fight, along with a snippet from our play-by-play of the contest.

Anderson Silva vs. Tito Ortiz – Round 1

Here we go! Apparently these are two-minute rounds. Tito throwing the slowest punches ever as Silva dodges them all while cornered against the ropes. LOL THEN ANDERSON KNOCKS TITO OUT WITH A RIGHT HAND! No count necessary.

Jessica Andrade says she is ‘very happy’ earning good money outside the UFC.

There’s a number of UFC veterans that have recently started to earn good money outside of fighting, through OnlyFans or their own fan site. The most accomplished fighter in that growing list is former UFC champion Jessica Andrade.

Soon after Andrade moved full-time to Las Vegas, she joined OnlyFans under the advice of her wife. According to MMA Fighting, a few nude photos of the former champion initially leaked and went viral in Brazil, but Andrade ultimately has no regrets on her decision.

“If I had done [those photos] against my will, it would’ve been different,” Andrade said. “But I did that knowing it would probably happen. Not everyone is honest with you all the time. The photos were a package to one person but you don’t know this person’s heart and nature, and unfortunately that happened. But it was a learning experience. So we do photos now, but only to the right people and the right way.

“I’m 30 and my body won’t look pretty for the rest of my life, so we have to enjoy it while it’s nice. No one will want to see it later. [Laughs] Better use it now, than when it’s gone. But I wasn’t upset. I thought it was funny because people did a lot of memes.”

Apart from a monthly subscription, people can also purchase extra content directly as well. Andrade says this move has been so lucrative, she was able to pay for her car and rent in Las Vegas, her house in Brazil, and a lot of her family’s other bills, all from her OnlyFans income alone.

“I paid off my car and six or seven months of rent [in Las Vegas] in advance,” she said. “I haven’t even used the money of my last fight’s purse. I was able to pay my bills in Brazil, help my family and help Fernanda’s family with OnlyFans’ money.

“It’s nice when you check your account and see the money is still there. You’re like, ‘My God, I’m buying a lot of stuff on Amazon, my house is like a market right now, and the account remains the same.”

After moving up a division and looking great in her flyweight debut, Andrade lost her last title bout against dominant champ Valentina Shevchenko last April. The former strawweight champion will have her third flyweight bout this month, as she is set to face Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 266.

Other UFC veterans such as Paige VanZant and Bec Rawlings have repeatedly stated how lucrative and helpful their fan sites have been. Low fighter pay is still an ongoing issue even at the highest stage of mixed martial arts. The same can be said about the lack of consistent sponsorships these days, so it’s nice to see more fighters use their platform and find ways to earn well outside of the sport.

White blames ‘scumbag’ media for convincing fighters they’re ‘underpaid’

Everything is fake news and the media’s fault? Dana White passes blame on low fighter pay.

Low fighter pay has been a huge issue in mixed martial arts for several years now, but if you ask the UFC President, it’s not a real issue and it’s all just a creation of the media. According to Dana White, fighters aren’t really underpaid, the media just convinced them that they are.

“You have these scumbags out there that know nothing about the business telling all the fighters ‘oh you’re all being underpaid. You’re not being paid enough money. You’re not this’ — it goes on every f—king day!” White ranted on Travis Browne’s podcast.

“Every media member that talks about fighter pay is a scumbag who is basically just out there to get attention, because they literally know nothing about the business or the pay or how any of this shit works,” he said. “It’s all part of the game.

“That’s who they are and that’s what they do, and I literally could give a f—k.”

White is taking a page from his friend Donald Trump’s playbook once again. They’re not at fault, they didn’t create or do anything wrong, it’s all fake news, all just a media creation.

Over a decade of fighters asking for bonuses and bigger purses so they can pay for basic needs and train full time? Athletes from other sports getting a significantly larger slice of the pie? Boxing stars making far more money than UFC counterparts with similar or even more drawing power? Countless other complaints, grievances and even lawsuits from legions of fighters from different eras of the sport?

Is all of that just fake news and an elaborate scheme created by media for several years to — *checks notes* — get attention? Or is this again just a transparent attempt at passing blame?

But hey, don’t take my word for it. I am part of “the scumbag media” after all, so just listen to the UFC!

Year over year, White, UFC and Endeavor bragged about doing record business, and raking in massive amounts of money. Endeavor announced that 2021 was the “biggest first half ever” for the UFC, and could end up reaching the billion dollar revenue mark for the year. They also revealed that event operating costs, which include fighter pay, dropped by an average of $1 million per event.

In 2020, White used the pandemic and not having ticket sales as an excuse to not increase fighter pay, claiming they will “lose over $100 million.” He then boasted that that UFC “broke every record” in 2020, including revenue! Prior to that, White also announced that 2019 was their “biggest year” to date.

White also previously discussed fighter pay and said it was comparable to other major sports leagues. He says fighters make a lot of money and claimed that “opportunities today, are just like playing in the NFL, NBA, or Major League Baseball.” While those leagues have large minimum contracts and close to 50% wage share, Zuffa’s own “company overview” documents showed that the UFC themselves planned to keep “athlete compensation” at just 17% for years.

I could go on and on, but are all of their quotes and all the numbers they put out themselves all created by “the media” too?

Khabib called ring girls the ‘the most useless people in martial arts’

Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov recently labeled ring girls as “the most useless people in martial arts.” He also questioned their purpose as “you can show that it is the second round on the screen.”

Arianny Celeste, the UFC’s most popular and tenured Octagon Girl, has since responded to say that she simply doesn’t care about criticism from others anymore.

“I’ve work over 15 years in this industry and learned it’s easier just to simply NOT CARE,” Celeste wrote.

“For 15 years we have been more than just ring girls – we have dedicated time in promoting ufc and showing love and time to our die hard fans through touring the world and personal appearances . And while the world is very different right now, I can still feel that energy and love every time we have a show with an audience.”

Apart from explaining her other duties for the promotion, Celeste also explained how she should be respected for working hard to be an “independently wealthy female”:

It’s taken me 15 years of hard work, dedication, and time to be :

•A bad ass independently wealthy female.

•A real estate investor and owner of not just 1 but 3 homes/properties one located in LA -which is expensive AF .

•and a female who is not afraid to take risks and build for my future.

You can call us useless, but to people like me who have worked this hard, it slips right off my shoulders . My life is too good to be unhappy .

You don’t have to like me, but you will respect me.

Last but not least, please tell me why reporters and have nothing better to talk about than the ring girls ? There has to be way better things to ask about !!

Next subject.

This of course hasn’t been the first time Octagon girls have been criticized, with Ronda Rousey repeatedly taking aim at Celeste and their jobs as “talentless” ring card girls during her title reign.

More recently, Jake Paul also stated that fighters should get paid more than Arianny Celeste, although that was more of a point about the state of UFC pay than ring girls themselves.

Triller is moving its entire event to avoid licensing issues made to protect fighters.

Triller is scrambling to save its event after Oscar De La Hoya pulled out due to a pretty serious case of COVID-19. This is Triller’s second major event to be hit by coronavirus cancellations after Teofimo Lopez also tested positive.

Not wanting to have another event scrapped and lose more money, Triller has booked 58-year-old Evander Holyfield to step in and face former UFC champion Vitor Belfort on very short notice. Reports are now coming in that the California State Athletic Commission has not cleared Holyfield to compete due to his age.

According to MMA Fighting, Triller did some commission shopping to try and bypass the issue, and will be moving the entire event from Los Angeles, to Florida.

Holyfield, who turns 59 next month, has not competed in over a decade. Even then, he was already clearly way past his prime, with the New York State Athletic Commission previously refusing to license him sixteen years ago, from all the way back in 2005.

The September 11 event will also have a boxing match between Anderson Silva vs Tito Ortiz.

As Triller bypasses these protocols designed to protect fighters, hopefully nothing terrible happens in an event that is headlined by fighters aged 44, 46, 46 and 58.

Boxing: Woodley vs Paul - Fight Announcment

Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini says he didn’t even want to watch the fight ring side.

Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini was ring side for the Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley, and the former boxing champion says not only was he not impressed, he also didn’t really even want to watch that “bullcrap” in the first place.

The 60-year-old boxing hall-of-famer says that while he wasn’t impressed with either fighter, he believes Paul got “exposed” and didn’t deserve to win that split decision.

“That’s a fight where one guy’s scared and the other guy’s glad of it. One guy did nothing and the other guy did less,” Mancini told Fight Hub (transcript via Bad Left Hook). “If Woodley ain’t in it, there ain’t no fight! (Paul) got exposed for what he is.

“My ass! Woodley won that fight. What else are you gonna say? We know that one guy sells tickets and the other guy don’t mean a whole lot. It’s called show business for a reason. Business comes long before the show,” he said.

“(Woodley) was the aggressor and was actually landing the more effective punches, better punches. He rocked this guy a couple times and marked him up. If he’s not in there, there is no fight. What did the other guy do? Move, move, move. He did nothing! Nothing!

“(Paul) showed good movement and a pretty good chin, even if he got tapped a little bit. But he got exposed for what he is. It’s exhausting.”

The former lightweight world champion says he isn’t interested in watching a rematch, and didn’t even want to attend this one in the first place.

“No! For what?! I didn’t want to see this bullcrap now as it is! I’m here because I’m on the commission and it’s good entertainment. The rest of the card was a great card. This? Bullshit! The card was good. This is bullshit. This is horseshit here! One guy can’t fight, this guy can’t fight a lick.”
