Could Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson settle their continuing feud with a formal rematch when Sugar’s knee is healthy again? Is Thiago Silva about to get busted for steroids? There’s a ton of conflicting information surrounding these related stories, so we’ll just pass along what we’ve heard…

MMAWeekly was the first to report that UFC light-heavyweight contender Thiago Silva has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled match against Quinton Jackson at UFC 130 (May 28, Las Vegas). "Sources close to the bout" confirmed that Rashad Evans will be stepping in for the Pitbull — meaning that Evans’s first opponent since outpointing Quinton Jackson last May will be…Quinton Jackson, once again.

– However, Thiago Silva himself denied the report to Tatame, saying "I’m very healthy and looking forward to fight Rampage…Nobody called us about anything, the fight is on.” Quinton Jackson’s camp was also surprised by the report, and according to Rashad Evans’s manager, Evans hasn’t been offered the fight either.

Approximately 1,500 MMA fans swarmed the Roseland Ballroom in New York City yesterday afternoon for a special meet-and-greet with the participants from Strikeforce’s heavyweight grand prix. The action begins this Saturday at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with two quarterfinal matches — Fedor Emelianenko vs. Antonio Silva and Andrei Arlovski vs. Sergei Kharitonov — and three reserve matches, featuring Shane Del Rosario, Chad Griggs, and Valentijn Overeem. If you’re going to be there in person, please swing by the press pit to receive a complimentary fist-bump from BG.

We’ve collected some video highlights from yesterday’s festivities after the jump: First, all eight members of the heavyweight GP are introduced to the crowd by horrific YAMMA/Affliction vet Scott Ferrall. Then, Alistair Overeem talks to Ariel Helwani about his new love of American football, getting ducked by Fedor, and Dana White’s opinion that he’s not a top ten heavyweight. Finally, Fabricio Werdum shows off his special move for the tournament, and we have to admit, it’s pretty damn special. Check it out.

This video has been making the rounds today mostly because of the part that begins at the 4:40 mark, in which Rashad Evans describes a physical encounter he had with Quinton Jackson recently at a Las Vegas nightclub. Basically, Rashad approached his TUF 10 coaching rival to congratulate him on his win over Lyoto Machida (and also bust his balls a bit). The conversation took a left turn, which led to Rampage slapping Rashad in the face. Rashad returned the slap, and then security stepped in. End of story.

But the way Rashad sets up the story is a little strange. He says: "I seen him at XS, right? And I go up to him and give him his props for his win, y’know, he beat Machida, I beat Machida, and I was like ‘good job,’ you know. And I said ‘but you know, you kind of used a little bit of my strategy in that fight.’ [Rampage said] ‘Whatchu talkin’ ’bout?’ And I said, ‘well I mean, you were taking him down a lot, and you said that I wrestled you a lot, so, you said I was kinda weak for doing that, but then you go and do the same thing."

Rashad, if you’re reading this, maybe this will help jog your memory

Now that the UFC has a 145-pound division, it was only a matter of time before a few lightweight contenders decided to chase the belt where the competition’s a little smaller. The biggest name so far is Kenny Florian, who told ESPN.com yesterday that he’s taking himself out of the lightweight mix to try his hand at featherweight:

"I started playing around with the idea: could I make 145? Originally, I didn’t think it was possible," Florian said. "I spoke with a few nutritionists, got their opinions, told them what my body fat was, my walking-around weight, all that stuff and the general consensus was that it was very possible…[The UFC] is very supportive. They’re very excited about the move…My goal is to get the 145-pound belt, and then go up to 155 and challenge for that belt as well."

You may recall that Jose Aldo‘s management turned down a fight with Florian at lightweight because Florian was coming off a loss, was never a champion, and isn’t in the pound-for-pound top ten. You have to wonder if the insult is still weighing on Ken-Flo’s mind. Florian’s manager Malki Kawa definitely still has Aldo in his sights:
