UFC 112 recap: Anderson Silva keeps belt, loses fans; Frankie Edgar scores massive upset

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is here to entertain you – or
at least himself.

While lightweight Frankie Edgar earned one of the biggest upsets in UFC
history with an impressive decision win over champion B.J. Penn in the
co-main event of Saturday’s “UFC 112: Invincible” card in Abu Dhabi, Silva did his best to
make the night all about “The Spider” in the evening’s main event.

Silva toyed with Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Demian Maia early
but was unable to finish late, and the champion walked away from the UFC’s first event in the Middle East with yet
another uninspired victory.

Chael Sonnen says Anderson Silva’s UFC 112 antics unsurprising

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s refusal to engage Demian Maia
at Saturday’s UFC 112 event left many MMA observers both shocked and
appalled.

Top contender Chael Sonnen was not among them.

After hearing of Silva’s in-cage antics during the night’s main event,
Sonnen told MMAjunkie.com he wasn’t surprised. After
all, according to the Team Quest fighter, “The Spider’s” actions
weren’t exactly out of character.

MMAjunkie.com/”Inside MMA” poll results: How many belts will change hands at UFC 112?

For the second time in as many UFC events, two title belts will be on
the line at Saturday’s “UFC 112: Invincible” event in Abu Dhabi.

But with both champions regarded as heavy favorites, our latest
MMAjunkie.com/”Inside MMA” poll asked our readers, “How many
belts will change hands at UFC 112?”

The results were revealed on Friday’s new edition of “Inside MMA” on
HDNet, and perhaps to no one’s surprise, it was one of our most lopsided
polls ever.

UFC 112’s Story eyes Osipczak but says teammates are fair game, too

UFC welterweight Rick Story isn’t at a place in his career where several
of his teammates are crowded at the top of the 170-pound welterweight
division, like the vaunted American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose,
Calif.

Story (9-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) trains out of the Brave Legion gym in
Vancouver, Wash., and it’s a gym of mostly up-and-comers.

But if one of his teammates, including current UFC contender Mike Pierce, ever stands in his path to the top, Story says bring it on.
