Now that the dust has settled from an exciting Bellator 258 event — which went down last Friday night (May 7, 2021) — we got ourselves a clear picture of what the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix looks like.

In the co-main event of the evening, Anthony Johnson punched his way to the semifinals with an impressive knockout win over late replacement Jose Augusto, who gave “Rumble” everything he could handle on the opening round. Johnson — ranked No. 4 — will now face division champion Vadim Nemkov in the next round. So not only is a spot to the finals on the line, but Johnson could also become the new Heavyweight champ.

of course, there is no telling if Johnson will face some sort of internal suspension/punishment from Bellator that could affect his standing in the tournament following the news of his arrest shortly after his win.

More on that here.

In the other semifinal match up, former training partners-turned rivals Ryan Bader and Corey Anderson will face off against one another for the chance to compete for the $1 million jackpot at the end of rainbow. Both of those fights are set to go down sometime in July, with the finale going down in October.

You know the players, care to offer up a prediction (or three) as to who you think will be the last two men competing for it all this October?
