We are just hours away from the highly anticipated lightweight championship between Vasiliy Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs) and Teofimo Lopez (15-0, 12 KOs), and the betting odds are in favor of the Ukrainian.

Lomachenko is the expected favorite and can be had at -500 as of this article’s publish, and as low as low as -371 per Pro Boxing Odds. Lopez’s underdog numbers range from +290 to +350 as he is in the plus lines for the first time in his career. Those numbers are certain to change as we near closer to the ring walks, but even though Lomachenko is the favorite by a good margin, this is the smallest line he’s been favored by since he took on Guillermo Rigonedeaux in 2017.

This is boxing and the odds are much different compared to MMA odds if largely because MMA has way more ways to win and wackier, potentially chaotic outcomes. Lomachenko in a lopsided fight on paper can be as high as -10000, whereas a genuinely competitive fight like this makes -370 or -500 a lot different than an MMA fighter being favored at those same odds.

If prop bets are your thing then “Lomachenko by decision” is slightly favored over any other result.
