Breaking news: Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber still don’t like each other.
After nearly a decade of bitter hatred toward one another, the rivalry between “The Dominator” and “The California Kid” hasn’t died down one bit since the two first traded punches at WEC 26 back in 2007.
Sure, Faber won that matchup, but Cruz got his much-desired revenge four years later at UFC 132. In between fights, the two men have embarked on a back-and-forth verbal exchange for the ages, with both combatants hurling insults at one another at every turn.
Faber did just that after Cruz reclaimed his bantamweight title against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 81 earlier this year, body shaming the 135-pound champion at the recent “Unstoppable” presser by calling him the “skinniest fat guy” he’s ever seen while mocking his “back fat.”
On a recent edition of “UFC Tonight,” Cruz fired back by poking fun at “The California Kid’s” facial features and threatening to punish him for five rounds:
“Honestly, I want to punch him for five rounds, regardless if I could knock him out in round one. I think I’d rather punch him for five rounds. He’s talking about my back fat, so, I want to hurt him for it. I’ll take back fat over a butt on my face any day of the week, remember that”
Burn.
The two may finally be able to settle their differences once and for all, as they have been booked to take part in a trilogy fight at the upcoming UFC 199 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which is slated to go down on June 4, 2016 in Los Angeles, California (details here).
Once the dust settles at The Forum, maybe the bitter rivals can finally put everything aside and shake hands.
Or not.
