Gregor Gillespie is no longer undefeated in his mixed martial arts (MMA) run.

Gillespie met Kevin Lee on the main card of the UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) card from Madison Square Garden in New York City earlier this month. However, Gillespie was knocked out in the first round after eating a hellacious head kick from Lee. Despite this setback, Gillespie wants to get back into the Octagon against another top 10-ranked opponent.

Speaking on “The Anik and Florian Podcast,” Gillespie noted he doesn’t think the loss reflects that he doesn’t still belong in the top 10. (H/T MMA Junkie)

“I want another top-10 guy, I’ll say that,” Gillespie said. “Obviously I don’t think that loss is an indication that I don’t belong in the top 10. I think it’s one of those things that happens. I want to absolutely state this.

“I am not saying I got caught or Kevin Lee got lucky. There’s absolutely nothing lucky about what he did. I will give him all the credit in the world. It was a perfectly placed, a perfectly timed, perfectly executed kick, and that’s what every fighter hopes they can do in a fight.”

Gillespie said he hasn’t experienced losing since his wrestling days in 2011. With the loss, he wants to get right back on the horse and redeem himself with another fight as soon as his medical suspension is lifted.

“I feel like I really need to get back in there and redeem myself, sometime in the spring,” Gillespie said. “I think as far as I know at this point, I’m still on medical suspension, so I’m sure they want me to wait a little bit as far as that goes.”

What do you think about Gillespie saying he wants another top 10 opponent next?
