Midnight Mania! Dana White says Jon Jones ‘the most wasted talent ever’

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Jon Jones and Dana White have had a rocky relationship. Jones was supposed to be back after knocking out Daniel Cormier at UFC 214; he was supposed to fight Brock Lesnar, then possibly Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title. That was before we learned he failed a pre-fight drug test. After having his hopes dashed again and again by Jon Jones, Dana White has basically written off the former light heavyweight champion.

As reported by Justin Golightly of BJPenn.com, Dana White unloaded on Jon Jones on the TSN radio show:

“[He’s the most wasted talent] ever. Ever, in all of sports. [Jon Jones] is so talented and gifted, God knows what he would be doing now if he hadn’t ever got in trouble. He could possibly be the heavyweight champion and have the defense record that couldn’t be broken. The list goes on and on of what could’ve been with Jon Jones. Whatever happens [with his suspension], happens. Believe me, I’m not mentally or emotionally invested in that anymore.”

Jones currently awaits a hearing in December to decide his fate. Will his career be over, or will he return to fight another day?

I follow Al Foran, but I hadn’t seen this until Derrick Lewis posted it. I guess he has a lot of time on his hands after the back injury that threatens his career.

Jason Rony is no longer with the UFC- and apparently hasn’t been, since shortly after his last fight.

UFC told me days ago Jason was released shortly after his last fight, but Jason kept telling the media for months that he was not released.
