Brendan Schaub isn’t exactly on a hot streak right now. He’s lost his last two fights in the UFC, four of his last six. He most recently competed against Travis Browne in December at UFC 181 where he lost via first-round TKO.
And then there’s the infamous talking to he received from UFC commentator Joe Rogan.
Still, ‘Big Brown’ remains undeterred. On a recent episode of the Jason Ellis Show on SiriusXM, Schaub not only expressed interest in facing former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, but said he’d defeat the current WWE star so badly, it would force Lesnar to return back to WWE in shame.
“Doing fake wrestling is not the same as being in the UFC. You’re playing grab ass,” Schaub said. “You know if you’re going to win or lose. Yeah, it’s hard on your body. Great. He hasn’t been competing and training like I have. If he comes back to the UFC, I would 100 percent send him packing back to the fake wrestling.”
Lesnar is currently under contract with WWE, but his time with the company is coming to a contractual end. There is rampant speculation the former University of Minnesota national champion wrestler is mulling a return to the Octagon.
When asked why Schaub believes he has a better chance than Frank Mir, who fought Lesnar to a 1-1 record in two encounters, Schaub said styles make fights. “I have better striking and takedown defense and our jiu-jitsu is different. Mir is a leg lock specialist. I’m not a leg lock guy.”
In the end, though, Schaub isn’t all bluster. He did admit Lesnar was likely competing at an injury deficit in his previous UFC run. He also said while Lesnar wouldn’t have any success against him, he’d still over all be successful if he returned to competitive MMA.
“I think what he does, he’ll still be very successful because he’s do damn big and a really talented wrestler,” Schaub argued. “There’s just not that many big, explosive guys who are athletic like he is. So, he’s always going to be successful.”
As for his interest and readiness, well, there isn’t much hesitation in Schaub’s voice.
“I’ve said sign me up.”
5 MUST-READ STORIES
He’s bitter. Cody MacKenzie’s no longer in the UFC, but he’s all too willing to fight UFC President Dana White. For free.
No dance partner. UFC middleweight Uriah Hall was first supposed to face Costas Philippou. Then Louis Taylor. No he’s got no one to fight and the event is days away.
A big showdown. Hector Lombard and Rory MacDonald both want title shots at welterweight, but they aren’t going to get it until they fight each other, which they will soon.
Them kicks, tho. It could all be pre-fight bluster, but Anderson Silva’s camp says the all-time great is back to kicking like a mule.
Not impressed. Despite it being one of the most famous or notable things he’s ever said, Georges St-Pierre looks back at his famous Matt Hughes trash talk with personal disdain towards himself.

FANPOST OF THE DAY
Today’s Fanpost of the Day comes via sjs1598, who argues UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones should be stripped of his title:
As nearly everyone knows by now, Jon Jones tested positive for a cocaine metabolite in his urine approximately one month before his championship fight with Cormier. We do not yet know the results of his subsequent testing. But what is clear is that his use of cocaine, a banned and controlled substance is illegal and additionally a violation of UFC fighter contracts and “anti-doping” rules. Cocaine is not just a recreational drug but it is also a powerful stimulant. And as an illegal stimulant, if cocaine is used “out of competition” it may unfairly help a fighter increase his work-out intensity and loose weight faster. Since this is an illegal “edge” that the UFC was aware of several days prior to the fight, it should have been disclosed to Jones’ opponent, Cormier, prior to the fight or the fight canceled entirely. Obviously, Dana White’s decisions in this matter were controlled by short term financial gains (750K pay-per-views) and not the long term of health of the UFC or its fighters.
